To Our House

From Central Tokyo via the Seibu Shinjuku line

Take the Seibu Shinjuku line to Tanashi. The best place to catch the Seibu line is at Takadanobaba station, which is on the Yamanote line and the Tozai subway line.

Tanashi is the 3rd stop on most express trains. Take the express or semi-express train, it's always faster. Once an hour there's a special express with only reserved seats and a higher fare. Don't take this train. From Takadanobaba to Tanashi takes about 15 minutes.

From Tanashi to my house takes about 10 minutes.

There is only one ticket gate. Leave by the north exit and go down the first stairway you see. At street level, turn left. There's a wide street leading north away from the station. It's to the left of "Asta/Livin" department store, the big store just across from the station. Go straight down this street for 5-6 minutes to the 2nd stoplight. Cross this street and turn right. You'll walk past a large restaurant called Hanaya Yohei.

Go to the second stoplight. You'll see a large video rental shop called "Geo" on the far right corner. Cross the street and turn left. Take the first right and then the first left.

Now you're on a quiet street between a 3-story apartment building and an area of small houses on narrow streets. The houses are to your right. Go straight to the last narrow street before a wide street. Turn right and go to the 4th house on the right. That's it. The light will be on and our name is on the mailbox.

Via the Chuo line and the #3 Bus

If you live on the Chuo line, it's probably faster to use that line and a bus. The bus will drop you off only about 2 minutes from our front door.

Take the Chuo line to Musashi-Sakai. Leave through the north exit. Catch the #3 bus to Hibarigaoka. It leaves quite frequently. This bus goes north to Tanashi station on the Seibu Shinjuku line and Hibarigaoka station on the Seibu Ikebukuro line.

Stay on the bus until "Kitahara Jutaku." This is the second stop after Tanashi Station. It will take 20-25 minutes

When you leave the bus, turn left (south) and go to the stoplight. Cross the street, and go straight down the wide road to the left of the 3-story apartment building. Turn right just past the apartment building.

Now you're on a quiet street between the apartment building and an area of small houses on narrow streets. The houses are to your left. Go to the first narrow street. Turn left and go to the 4th house on the right. That's it. The light will be on and our name is on the mailbox.
